An uninspected passenger vessel should be operated by an individual that holds an appropriate Coast Guard issued license for an operator of an uninspected passenger vessel (OUPV), or an endorsement for a higher gross tonnage. A Merchant Mariner credential is in a booklet form (similar to a passport). Following the photograph page will be a page with the master's endorsements. See photo above for an example of an operator holding both a OUPV endorsement and a 100 gross ton endorsement.
