U.S. Coast Guard Inspected Vessel

The Coast Guard inspects all vessels that carry over six passengers with at least one "passenger for hire", or any vessel chartered with crew provided or specified by the owner/owner's representative and carrying more than six passengers. This type of commercial vessel should have a sticker near the bridge to verify Coast Guard inspection is current. An example of this sticker is shown above. A vessel representative should also be able to show passengers a copy of a valid Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection.

** If you have additional questions, or if the rental you're on does not match the description seen here, you can report the discrepancy through CGIS Tips here or call the Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan Command Center at (414) 747-7100.
